jajea - LMAO. I don't drink either ~ except virtually. The pink tennies are helping my mood, as is the Starbucks grande skinny hazelnut latte... (froofy enough for you Shawn?!?!)

My trainer says I need to cut out sugar completely. Completely? That's just mean. Seriously. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, or a few other vices that I won't mention here (tmi). Sugar is all I have. Well, all I had.

College? Good for you!!! My advice is to just jump right in!!! I started back to school full time this past fall after being out for 25 years. A lot has changed but so much is still the same too.

Embrace the technology. The less you fight it and the more you use it to your advantage, the easier the transition will be.

Know that everyone isn't staring at you and you aren't the oldest person ever to take a college class. Everyone is looking at everyone because they're all sizing each other up: Who's the teacher's pet, the slacker, the class comedian, etc. Once everyone falls into their roles, things settle down.

The confidence and experience you have now as opposed to 25 years ago is a tremendous advantage. You know what matters (and what doesn't) and can focus on your school work without all of the other BS interfering.

Waiting until your kids are old enough to help you with your homework is probably the biggest advantage. Shorty is the absolute best algebra tutor I could ask for.

Most of all, enjoy it. Soak up all you can.

I'll join you for the beer and wings, CC! I am having middle school/high school flashbacks. Now let me just say that I had the great fortune to attend a small school where most of the typical "horrors" of those years didn't occur, or at least weren't quite as pervasive, so I'm struggling a bit here. We're talking snide comments to anything that wasn't suggested by the moms of the popular girls and just an overall feeling of being included only because they HAVE to include us. I worked my tail off for a recent fundraiser thinking the $$ was to be used for children who couldn't afford to pay the expenses for a trip and found out at the meeting that all that money is going for elaborate decorations for a dance! I had already agreed to spearhead a big part of the next fundraiser but now the enthusiam just isn't there. UGH!!! Pass the chocolate too!

Here you go, LUV. I knew I was saving that chocolate bunny for a reason!

I swear the parents are cattier than the kids. I sat for three hours at Shorty's track meet tonight and couldn't believe some of the things the moms said to each other. And these are supposed to be adults and the role models that their children follow. Aye yi yi .....

I'd lose my steam on the fundraising thing too.

CC, No sugar, well that's just crazy talk..hahaha

Thanks for the encouragement...I am sooooo overwhelmed right now....I think I should have quit the PTO, quit being a Girl Scout leader and layed down the law to the 3 kids before I jumped into this...hahahaha O yes, my kids are so much better at math than me....when I took the entrance exam, I couldn't even figure out how to work their calculator...hehehe

I think I will enjoy it once I get myself organized and on track...don't think I prepared as well as I should have before this week....lesson learned...

O, don't get me started on the fund raising dilema...we had a president that wanted to spend, spend, spend, but actually said it was ok to have "fundraisers" and intentionally not make $$$$$, could never understand how she thought the funds were going to last...I have no intention of ever dealing with THAT again...Maybe it's just me, but it seems like some people just want to be an officer for all the wrong reasons....

Well, here's sharing all my chocolate.....this week it is minature Snickers and Hershey's Speical Dark Eggs (clearance Easter candy)....IT IS GOOD !!!!!!!

It's always interesting to me how free people are with money that's not coming out of their own pocket. It's happened here at work too.

I totally missed the markdown Easter candy. Like I needed it anyway, but MMMMMM malted milk eggs.

Stopped in to say HI! to everyone. It's raining cats, dogs and other large farm animals here too. I am getting the DVR ready for Lady O's show today. She is interviewing David Sheff the Author of Beautiful Boy. I know I mentioned wanting to read it in a past post. Here's and excerpt from the book:

It hurts so bad that I cannot save him, protect him, keep him out of harm's way, shield him from pain. What good are fathers if not for these things? — Thomas Lynch, "The Way We Are"

"Howdy Pop, God, I miss you guys so much. I can't wait to see you all. Only one more day!!! Woo-hoo."

Nic is emailing from college on the evening before he arrives home for summer vacation. Jasper and Daisy, our eight- and five-year- olds, are sitting at the kitchen table cutting, pasting, and coloring notes and welcome-home banners for his homecoming. They have not seen their big brother in six months.

In the morning, when it's time to leave for the airport, I go outside to round them up. Daisy, wet and muddy, is perched on a branch high up in a maple tree. Jasper stands below her. "You give me that back or else!" he warns.

"No," she responds. "It's mine." There is bold defiance in her eyes, but then, when he starts to climb up the tree, she throws down the Gandalf doll he's after.

"It's time to go get Nic," I say, and they dash past me into the house, chanting, "Nicky Nicky Nicky."

We drive the hour and a half to the airport. When we reach the terminal, Jasper yells, "There's Nic." He points. "There!"

Nic, an army green duffel bag slung over his shoulder, leans against a NO PARKING sign on the curb outside United baggage claim. Lanky thin in a faded red T-shirt and his girlfriend's cardigan, sagging jeans that ride below his bony hips, and red Converse All-Stars, when he sees us, his face brightens and he waves.

The kids both want to sit next to him and so, after throwing his bags into the way back, he climbs over Jasper and buckles in between them. In turn he clasps each of their heads between the palms of his hands and kisses their cheeks. "It's so good to see you," he says. "I missed you little boinkers. Like crazy." To us up front, he adds, "You, too, Pops and Mama."

I need to get to the library and pick up some reading material. My brain is getting mushy from watching TV in the evenings!

Aaahh, spring is here! The sun is shining, temps in the 60's, grass is green, daffodils blooming, and I'm sick. That's right, again! This has been the worst winter/early spring for me. I have NEVER been sick this much. I think I'm going to crack some windows in the house and see if I can blow the germs out!

Elections last night. I am now a lame duck. We have co presidents coming up and a full board and I'm confident they are going to do a tremendous job. Having started this whole crazy group it is very emotional to leave "my baby" but I knew it was time for new energy and to allow the group to grow on. Amazing how attached we/I have gotten. Don't you know I come home to an email from a little girl asking me if it is hard to be PTO president. I wrote her back and told her it was hard at times but knowing I was helping make their school experience fun made me very happy. Don't you know that sweet, sweet little girl came back and said "Thanks, you're very inspirational". I'm still crying...I guess it was God's little kiss goodbye.

How cool that a child would think about something like that! I can sympathize with your feelings too. I put in a lot of years in a leadership role with our elementary PTO and saw some great progress made in those years. It was really hard to step out of that leadership role, but I knew it was time. Still makes me sad if I hear that things aren't going well. You become very vested in the group over the years.
