I hate when I answer my phone and the first thing I hear after saying, "Hello" is, "WHO IS THIS?!" My usual irritated answer is, "Well...who is THIS?" The next response from said caller is usually, "Your number was on my caller ID." Have these people never heard of a wrong number????? They obviously didn't recognize my number (which is unlisted, BTW) so maybe I didn't want them after all. Sorry if I offend anyone, but this is just plain RUDE!

I think from now on when I answer my phone instead of saying, "Hello", I am going to say, "This is Melissa. If you are calling because my number was on your caller ID and I didn't leave a message it's because a wrong number was dialed. Get over yourself! You aren't THAT important!"

Wouldn't it be much nicer to hear "Hello, this is _______. Your number came up on my Caller ID and I am returning the call." I've had similar rude calls to yours and am usually too thrown by them to come up with a good response. I guess manners haven't kept up with technology. Where's Emily Post when you need her?

My problem is that they have so much spare time that they feel the need to call back random numbers on their caller id. If I didn't leave a message, then it's probably not important. Especially, do not call my number in the middle of the night!

I totally agree!! That is sooo annoying!! I would never do that! My kids have dialed wrong numbers before and me not know it and then this person calls and I say, "No, I didn't call you" and they want to argue with you, "Your # is on my ID!" Well, excuse me! My kids must have dialed a wrong #!!!!!!!!! SHEEZ! Get a life!!!! It must be nice to feel that important. hee hee

Oh, I love people who use caller id instead of an answering machine. They put their name down for something to do with PTO then you try to call them and can't leave a message. Like I have time to just keep calling you back til I find you at home! I had one woman call me one time and acted so accusing. I think she was suspicious of her husband's extracurricular activities. When I told her who I really was and what I was calling about she switched to the nicest person ever!

My kids think I'm nuts 'cuz I dont answer the phone and look at the caller ID first.

Then they dont leave a message and my daughter's like "UGGH, Daddy, What did they call us for !!!"

My wife's family always leave mssgs "20 min long, like I'm jus tsitting by the phone not answering on purpose (sometime I am, but usaully not)
If I dont answer, I'm busy or not home, leave a message

My parents are still not used to the whole caller id concept and to be honest it's not offered in the rural area they live, so when they call it's so fun to answer the phone "Hey DAD! How are ya!" Used to just freak him out!!

On the dark side I had a Mom call me after she got my number off her estranged husband's cell phone. They were separting and he had called to see if I had any uniforms to loan him as his estranged or strange wife had taken all of their daughters things leaving him with nothing to wear for school! Well, I never got to hear her nice side and didn't like the fact that she yelled at me for helping him when I reminded her that I helped her daughters that she left nothing for . I even went as so far as to change my number. She really scared me.
