Angry

I live outside of Buffalo, NY as many of you may have seen on the new we had an awful snow storm that downed trees and took out our power. We ended being of school for this past week.
Only you fellow PTOers can understand my agony this week of trying to change all our upcoming events. We had our fundrasier pick up for this week but our stuff couldnt be sent because of the storm or nothing being opened. We had an Ice Cream Social scheduled for the week school was closed so now I am rescheuling that. It has been a huge mess.
Plus I have no yard with all the trees that came down and trying to get our house in order.

Just had to vent!!!!!UGH

Cindy

Oh Cindy...you guys got hammered a week and a half ago. I can't even begin to imagine that, a few years back we had a huge ice storm that shut everything down for a week and half, we had events that we cancelled as well. Now we look back and see how we moved on and can "laugh" at it now. I guess us new yorkers have to deal with those things...I live in Fulton (in between Oswego and Syracuse) and last year it blizzard during our Holiday Shop! Good luck!

I'm so sorry to hear about all of your trouble!! What a pain! I hope your finally starting to get everything straight~it's stressfull enough w/out all that mess. We're in Maine, so I can relate! No snow yet, but I know it is coming sooner than I'd like! (like maybe tomorrow!)

My son's teacher (who is also a friend) was in a wedding during that storm. You probably read about it in the paper (maybe you even know them!) They cancelled everything & rescheduled it overnight Friday night & ended up having it 2 hours away on Sunday instead of Saturday. I would have had a nervous breakdown!! My friend & her hubby & 1 YEAR OLD ended up having mega airport delays & didn't know whether to try to even go or not. She said everything ended up being beautiful after all. Thank God for wedding planners!!

My dad lives in Northern Wisconsin. He says there are four seasons there: Almost Winter, Winter, Just After Winter and Road Construction.

My brother-in-law grew up in North Tonawanda (NY) and he tells some pretty awful stories about his childhood winters. The family gathers for Christmas on Thanksgiving because they don't make any travel plans during December! And twice in the past five years they even had to cancel the Thanksgiving/Christmas because of snow!!

IT's so funny how you all have ties to the Western NY area.

I did see the article in the paper on the Wedding. I felt so bad for all those girls that had to change all their wedding plans it was nuts. If your friends were stuck in the Buffalo Airport they could have called I am litterally right around the corner.

The winters are hard to make travel arrangements for the holidays. My mom lived in Atlanta and we always stayed her because we got cancelled alot it wasnt worth it traveling with little kids. But I love the SNOW for the holidays wouldn't change it for the world.

Things are getting back to normal. Finally!!!

Now we have to see if the kids have to make up the days missed from school. UGH

tikes - I feel for your sooo much!! It's such a downer to have all that planned and then - NY winter hits - let alone way ahead of schedule.

I'm sure you are aware of the annual Golden Snowball Race for us Central New Yorkers!!!
I actually live just outside of Syracuse and, take some peace of mind, although you guys got hammered now, ultimately, we will again get the Snowball award at the end of the season (like we have for the past several years).

onarollpto. Yes Syracuse wins the award hands down. Hats off to you for dealing with a heck of a lot more storms or should I say snow than we do.
Hopefully its a short and a warm winter for all of us in the snowbelt areas. As I type this the forcast for this weekend is more Lake Effect. Got to love that.

Cindy
