Default Anyone heard of Smart Boards?

I wanted to know id anyone has heard f Smart boards or has them in your school already. I've just started checking into them for our school- I'd like to fundraise next year and purchase some for our upper elementary classes-- but I wanted to come in with more info-- maybe a school that has them and what have been the pros and cons of this product--
It looks awesome and I think the kids would get a lot out of these, if the teachers are trained properly and willing to use them.
Thanks, FoxMOM

Yes - several of our classrooms have them now and they are fantastic! We are currently getting a fundraiser together to raise more money to help get more classes outfitted for them. Check out our school district website; scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 21st century classroom: Welcome to Walton County School District

We have them at our school as well. The teachers love them. It gives them more options of teaching. The students can easily see what is being taught. Great purchase!

Supermom3.1 thanks for the website-- this is exactly what I was looking for.
I am going to give your website address to the principal so she can check it out. Thanks again

We have them in about half of our classrooms now. They are awesome!!! A great learning tool and at PTO game nights we hook a playstation up to one for great gaming fun! (the principal must know of course)

Thumbs up Re: Anyone heard of Smart Boards?

Smartboards are wonderful! We are a small school district (apprx 3800 students), and we have four elementary schools in which every classroom has a smartboard. The technology is such that the teachers can utilize internet resouces as well as share resources with each other (school to school, grade to grade, etc). It truly is an amazing tool.

I saw them last year in Georgia at the National Educational Technology conference. Personally I liked them, but for reasons that are unclear to me, when I discussed the PTO providing them to the school he was against them.

PrsidentJim...
If you really like them so if you can get a demonstration at your school- It made a big difference for our principal when I pitched it to here last week-- I was all set for her arguments about it after researching it more and I had the company come out with 1 and demo it to her, she was very impressed and we are going to try and get them for our 3-5 grade classes next year.

Smart boards are nice - but don't they also involve having a projector and computer hooked up for each board? There is another option out there that is cheaper and utilizes the existing white board called mimio.
