You’ve raised funds and devoted your time and energy to do great things for your school. Insurance protects your hard work in the unfortunate event there is an accident during one of your activities or someone decides to make a claim against your group or one of your volunteers.
Many groups think they are covered by their school’s insurance policy. This is true in some cases, but it’s rare. In fact, more and more groups are telling us that their school district is removing them from the school’s insurance policy.
Read the FAQs for help on how to determine if your group is covered by your school’s insurance policy.

Types of Insurance General liability insurance is the most common, but there are 5 types of insurance that parent groups should consider. Each one protects you and your group against different kinds of situations and claims.
General Liability – protects your group and volunteers in the event a claim arises from someone injured at one of your events.
Bond – protects your funds from theft and embezzlement
D&O – protects board members personally in the event a ‘mismanagement’ or ‘misrepresentation’ claim is filed.
Property – insures parent group property (popcorn makers, fundraising merchandise, etc.) from theft and damage.
Excess Accidental Medical – provides for out-of-pocket medical expenses for activities that are excluded from the General Liability policy.
Since our coverage is designed exclusively for parent groups, we cover many of the usual parent group events and activities that other policies exclude, like carnivals. Read more about each type of insurance and the coverage it provides.
