“In the past, our group had been using a store bought financial software program, which worked well for home and personal use, but the all-purpose financial software was not customized enough for our specific parent group needs. Because our school computers were outdated, all of our group’s information was saved on a floppy disk. The problem was that most of the board members did not have a floppy disk drive on any of their computers anymore so they were unable to open the files. To work around this problem, our previous treasurers used a handwritten ledger, but it was a painfully time consuming process! Also, because our previous treasurers relied on their handwritten ledgers, it was difficult for committee chairs to get a simple breakdown of income and expenses. My goal was to use something that moved our group into the future without the compatibility issues, etc. ”

“PTO Today’s Finance Manager has completely solved these issues! Because the software is web-based, future treasurers will never have to deal with software compatibility issues again! That is huge! I also like the fact that if I am working on PTO business at another board member's home, or at school, I can log on and retrieve info without having to carry my bulging record keeping binders with me everywhere I go. Also, it has made it very simple to give committee chairs a P&L statement at the end of their event, so they can evaluate what worked and what didn't, and make improvements/suggestions for next time. ”

“PTO Finance Manager has made the Treasurer’s job much easier to manage, especially with the monthly budget reports. I am able to print out a monthly listing of checks that were written/deposited. This was never done in the past, and since our bank accounts were set up years ago with only one signature required for checks, this makes me feel safer in my position. The main benefit for the school would be the ease in which I can pull up specific reports, anytime and anywhere. I am currently working with next year's board about getting started with Volunteer Builder too!”
