Birthday Club and Your PTO
October 20th, 2008 by Tim Sullivan(Note: cross-post from our schoolfamily.com blog). Really like this idea spearheaded by a couple of kids down in Florida. Can your PTO or PTA run with the same or similar concept? Quick summary: kids choose to support a charity for their birthday (as opposed to getting the toys they don’t need), party involves delivering the gift right to the cause, and PTO celebrates the giving with a plaque at school. Cool. You can read all about this birthday club here.

We started a Birthday book Club.
Families shop at school run Book Fairs ( The HSA gets the profits)at Kohl’s (the full purchase price goes to charity)
or any where they like. They follow the Librarian’s wish list, and they must be hard back books. The book is dedicated to the child and read to the child’s class in the library. It teaches the child to share and leaves a lasting gift for years to come.
