I do not believe hosting a Mcteacher night is harmful to our kids-- and making them overweight. Taking away recess helps that out!
Mcteacher nights is way to connect with the community as a whole and help kids to see teachers outside of a classroom atmosphere... where most kids feel their teachers are like a "gos" if you will. Just the thought of seeing a teacher flipping a burger or talking to you in a restaurant is a thrill for kids. And with budgets tightening so much, this event is a great way to give something back to the school- because the 15% you get back is from all sales from anyone that comes to McDonald's during the scheduled time, whether you come in or go through the drive-through. There are foods at McDonald's that are healthy to eat, you just have to chose... and anything else in moderation is fine too. A McTeacher night is only 1 time a month-- not every week.
We should be encouraging community relations, not busting them apart.

McDonald's is junkfood. Regarding kids throwing away school lunch items, maybe they should be told by their parents that the food is mandated to be nutritious by the feds and that while it might not be as tasty as a homecooked meal, it is what's for lunch. Otherwise, pack your kid a lunch. Personally, I don't want my kid eating McDonald's or any other fast food if I can help it. Check out www.edibleschoolyard.org to learn how your kids can eat better at school.

I think a McTeacher night sounds like a fun thing to do and so much fun has already been taken out of the school. The council man needs to be protesting some of our school lunches. Children can't learn if their sitting in class hungry because the law says the schools have to serve certain items and the majority of students only put it in the trash because they will not eat it. This has become a real problem in some areas. Councilman go eat lunch with a few schools and then let us hear what you have to say...

[...] tsullivan wrote an interesting post today on McDonald’s McTeacher McOKHere’s a quick excerptSure, there are definitely occasions when marketing to kids and marketing through schools can go too far, but this MD councilman’s implied claim that McDonalds McTeacher Nights make kids fat is over-the-top. … [...]
