Harlem Wizards at CT School
December 17th, 2008 by Tim SullivanNot a lot of news here, but I really like the Harlem Wizards folks. Very cool program, and the kids love the great basketball. Combines fun family night with some nice fundraising potential.

Our PTO brought the Harlem Wizards to our school, R.O. Hardin Elementary last year. This was a HUGE community builder. This event brought our staff, parents & kids together for a fun filled evening. (They played against our staff, what a show….) They even went to our surrounding elementary schools and played with their kids at lunch. There was nothing but smiles after our game. Each player stayed until every student and parent had thier autograph. This was so much fun!

We are thinking about having the Wizards but our gym only holds $750 people and we aren’t sure if this would be a good fundraiser or not. How many people attended your event? What was the major source of income? Do you have any recommendations on what not to do and what to do better?

Hi, saw your question on the PTO Blog. Thanks for your interest in the Wizards,
The biggest source of income is ticket sales. For a gym size of 750 pick one of our moderate priced dates, usually Monday thru Wednesday, or Sunday in April-May.
You can also make money from selling food, raffles, Sponsorships and by selling Wizards Souvenirs.
Thanks, Todd Davis Harlem Wizards President
