Tim,
Thanks for sharing the great advice to appreciate broadly. It’s also important to remember that appreciating and recognizing your volunteers can make them more likely to volunteer in the future. Give your volunteers sincere and meaningful appreciation at the end of the school year, and you’ll have better luck recruiting next year!

Our school is wonderful to our teachers!
Monday when the teachers walked in the front hallway floor said
“RIDGEWAY’S WALK OF FAME”… EVERY teacher had their name and photo on a star on the floor laminated down the hall.
* On every teachers door that morning was a Big hershey kiss we had made out of construction paper with mini kisses ( each kid in that class had put their name on a kiss)…The paper that came out of the kiss said …”HUGS AND KISSES FROM YOUR CLASSROOM”….
*The teachers also got breakfast from Panera Bread Monday morning.
*Tuesday ~ They received $10 gift cards to office depot and cupcakes that looked like an apple
*Wednesday~ They received hand written thank you cards and a baggie of hershey hugs and kisses
*Thursday~ They received “Teacher Appreciation” snow cones
*Friday~ They received a lunch provided by Subway (long with chips, coleslaw, potato salad, soda and cookies)
WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS!

@Cori- Absolutely true that showing appreciation to volunteers at the end of school year increases the likelihood that volunteers will return for more next year!
@Olivia- Thanks for giving us a run down on your teacher appreciation program!
