I just wanted to perhaps share a great story with you guys about our school. We are in Wimberley, Texas. After many years of not being a formal PTO, last May, I created one and was elected as President. In August, I set up by-laws, officers, budgets and goals. It has been such a huge success. We have accomplished 2 of our biggest goals this year already! No one expected things to do so well. And I must admit that your PTO information was a huge help to me.
In the past, I served as Ways and Means in Sugar Land, Texas, but never took on a task like this! And the success was really apparent when we were able to purchase Smart Boards through our $6000 grant from the Verizon Foundation and $1000 Grant from our local Lions Club. I applied for them and Verizon was the first request I ever did in this formal manner. Then, just before the holidays, we were able to give every teacher and administrator a $100 cash surprise since we knew many of them dip into their own pocket for classroom supplies every year. Many teachers who have been with our district for 38 to 39 years said they had never received anything like this before! We also rewarded our aides, custodial workers, and cafeteria workers with a $50 Grocery Store gift certificate. Many of them cried and said now they could afford the holidays more! I am so proud of our PTO! We will continue to prosper with your help!
