Question: Do we use our EIN when soliciting for donations?

We are 1 1/2 years into applying for 501c3. We are getting ready to start soliciting businesses for donations to use at our spring carnival. We have been told that we need to put our EIN on our form letter that we give the businesses. Is this information correct or is there an IRS form for this purpose?

Businesses that make donations to your group will want your EIN for their records. It's a fairly common practice to include it on the solicitation letter. If you don't do it then, you should send it to them in the thank-you letter. There isn't an IRS form that covers this particular situation, as far as I know.
