Hi - It's really a similar question to "what is the role of the principal with the PTO?". Is the super in charge of your PTO? Yes and no. If you're an independent 501(c)(3), then technically, no -- the super probably has no formal connection. If you're not an independent organization, then your group could be considered a quasi- club of the school, and the super would have some say over that. But in either case, the important fact is that the super is in charge of the district and its schools. So her or his opinion and the things she or he does control can have an extremely large impact on your group. Could the super rule that you can't use the bhuilding for your meetings or events? Yes. Could the super eliminate your access to the backpack express or to school events? Yes. Therefore -- like with the principal -- the answer has to be cooperation and compromise. She or he needs you to thrive to have a great school. You need her or his basic OK to do your work well. Tim
