Q&A

Elections/transition

Our board elections are this month, and just found out that 3 of the nominated members will not be at the meeting. Our bylaws do not address if their presence at the election meeting is mandatory. Any suggestions?

It's odd that so many of them won't be there, but I don't think that should preclude them from being elected. Robert's Rules allows for candidates to be elected even if they are not present, so if your bylaws don't say anything about it, I would just go ahead with the elections.

Craig is correct as long as the nominees excepted nomination they need not be present at the election to be elected. We had our elections this evening and one of the nominees could not attend and it was not a problem and that person was elected.
