Q&A

Audit dos and don'ts

Our president is performing our audit and she wants to take all the orginal receipts out of the file cabinet and to her house for the audit? Is this a bad idea in case something were to get lost or is it normal procedure? Thanks

Yes, bad idea. An audit should be conducted at the school or at least in an office situation, and it should be conducted by someone or a committee of people who aren't signers on the checkbook. Read the story Annual Audit: How and Why for more information.

Well she does have another person performing it with her and she is not a signer on the checkbook. So do you think i should request that she take copies instead? or do it at the school? Thanks
