Bringing in a Co-President

I asked this on the leadership board as well but wanted to post here to. I want to make the President position into a dual seat. If I'm the President Elect this year does the co-seat need to be elected on or do I appoint someone to the position?

If the person is going to be an officer and board member, she has to be elected.

I just want to say that we have co Presidents and it really is not working well. There really have different views and it creates problems.
