Question: 1023, Part X, Item 6
I am applying for our 501c3 status and we are a new PTSO at a new school opening this September 2012. I know we do not want to check box 6a for an advance ruling (I believe this has been eliminated anyway), however, the wording in 6b is confusing since we have not completed 8 months of a tax year. Do we check this box anyway and answer 6(i)(a) and check 6(ii)(b).

Craig writes:When the advance ruling was eliminated, the IRS also eliminated the 8 month requirement -- it's just that the form hasn't been updated yet. You can go ahead and check box 6b.
