Safe pick up process

We are hosting a parents night out and I am looking for the safest way to do parent pickup to ensure the right kids go with the right parents. Suggestions?

I can recall a similar event where we opted to have parents come in to pick up their kids so we could physically "hand them off.'' This was with younger kids and we were concerned that having parents pull up in their cars in the dark to get their kids might not work perfectly. I don't think we had any parents complain, either.
