Question: Who decides details for PTO events?

Wondering how other PTOs manage decision making for event planning, like teacher appreciation week, family movie nights, etc. Does the President run the show? Or do Board members get equal votes? Do other PTOs have parent committees, and if so, do parents get a vote?

Typically, volunteers step up to run committees for specific events like the ones you mention. Sometimes, there will be a full and robust committee for something like Teacher Appreciation week (meaning lots of ideas are tossed around) and the committee works out what will get done, based on the budget it has.

PTOs are set up so that all parents and teachers are either automatically members or they are members if they pay the dues charged. In either case, all members would vote on everything that comes up for a vote.
