Question: What is a Social Secretary

Our PTO has created a new board position of Social Secretary. At this time it appears as the only responsibilities are correspondence with staff or student families in the event of any misfortune circumstances. Also to plan the Teacher's Appreciation Week & Luncheon. Would trying to gain more parent involvement fall under this title? Any other ideas I might be able to bring to our elections meeting for other 'social' ideas that could help out. No Facebook or Twitter accounts allowed at our school at this time.

It's whatever your group defines it to be; I don't think that is a very common title. Trying to get more parent involvement seems to fall more under the title of "Volunteer Coordinator," although that's really a job shared by all on the board.

We don't have that position at our school. But if we did, if would be to plan social events. Dances, family movie nights, appreciation days etc. The social events. Maybe even plan a dad's night or mom's night.
