Question: New Parents Club for Public Middle School

We recently formed a Parents Club for a public Middle School. We have had typically 3 people show up to our meetings. Do you have any idea how to get more parents to attend, fundraising ideas, any start up ideas? We are a small school of around 200.

Let's start by congratulating you for starting up a parent group. Middle school involvement is different from elementary school involvement, but it is very much worth the effort. (Some might say even more so!) One thing to consider is to host a no-cost, casual parents get together at a local pub or restaurant as a way to get some parents to connect. No pitches for fundraising, just a way to get to know each other. If parents start feeling a little connected to the school, they are more likely to want to help and get involved.

We have a wonderful section on this site devoted to middle school parent groups. You can find ideas for events and fundraisers as well as additional way to get parent involved. Visit our middle school page here: http://www.ptotoday.com/middle-school.

Hope this is helpful and stay in touch! Would love to hear how your group progresses!
