Principal in Nominating Committee?

Our principal currently serves in the nominating committee..i find this to be a conflict..Is it typical for the principal to be involved? Shouldn't it be the parents decision and no involvement from the principal? How does everyone else do it?

My principal is not a formal member of the committee, but I wouldn't have a problem with it if she was. She has been a great volunteer recruiter for us, and we have always run the potential candidates by her anyway, because she might have some insight on why someone may or may not be a good officer candidate. And if the officers can't get along with the principal, that creates a whole other set of problems.
