Enrichment programs

15 years 6 months ago #145808 by PresidentJim
We added many clubs last year, which could work for you:

- Spanish or other language
- Math club
- Science club
- Book club

For the language club we taught the students basic Spanish and then had games, a quiz type competition, Spanish dancing and music, and a Spanish food day.

For the science club the kids got to perform numerous fun experiments, including the Mentos experiment and making rock candy.

For the book club the book was chosen, read over the course of a couple of weeks and reviewed each week, and then a team quiz or a project or game was played.

Goodluck,

Our school did this afterschool program called TREPS. the kids learned how to start their own businesses. they got really into it, my daughter, who is usually a little on the shy side, was so motivated and wanted to talk about it to everyone! It was great. At the end of the workshops they held a big marketplace and put signs up all over town. It was packed! She sold friendship bracelets and was so proud of her sales. we had her cousins come- everybody loved it. if you're interested they have a website- TREP$ the award-winning entrepreneurship education program for kids in grades 4-8 - Home

We are looking for ideas for parent volunteer led programs for one hour each week during the school day. This is when we usually do drug awareness, math pentathlon, states & capitols, etc. Anyone have any successful programs that they are willing to share. I would sure appreciate your help.
