I don't know that I would add that in--- if your current principal retires and promotes to something else- you would have a new principal and that person might be on the same page as this one is--- we have our by-laws on our website-- www.foxpto.com and ours were written off of Roberts Rules--- they can be adjusted to work for your school with different amendments--

And as always -- the by-laws are looked at every year to see if amendments need to be made-- I would start off by drafting up a set and discussing with the principal what he/she would like to see in this new PTO--
Good luck!

New Bylaws Needed was created by SPPTO
Hello. I am the new leader of a relaunched PTO that fell to drama two years ago, and then was poorly run from afar up until recently.

As there is currently no one but me in the entire PTO (enviable, huh?) I want to do what I can to stack the odds that this new PTO will be focused on its goals and not a vehicle for egos and power trippers.

I have considered writing new bylaws that give the principal the final say in PTO matters.

Is that contrary to the nature of a PTO? Mind you, this principal is extremely accessible and not given to abuse of authority. He is also quite unenthusiastic about a new PTO as the previous incarnations were rife with all the wrong things.

I want to do the right thing and I don't want people to destroy what I am building here.
