Does anyone know the dates of any other appreciation days? Like custodian & maintenance, school bus driver, caffeteria staff, school board, school councilor, principal or librarian. This is my first year with the PTO. And by the 2007-2008 school year, I hppe we can honor them all. Since they all do help the kids in some way.

Our school has never done much for teacher's appreciation as it used to be only Kindergarten. It is now a K-5 school. Here is what we have planned for the week
Monday~Teacher's are getting a small gift bag with candy and the candy poem. We shortend it as to not spend a small fortune on candy.

Tuesday~They are getting mompacks. ( I am a member of the website and had women business owners send me samples and coupons from their businesses and put them together in a pack.) I make candles and they will each also get a votive from me. I got pens, books, bracelets.. etc.

Wednesday~We had parents volunteer to donate food for lunch. WE will decorate the room and are having a salad theme. All the teachers love salad.
They will also get a mini candy bar in their mail box with a candy bar wrapper that says you are Beary Great.

Thursday~ The PTA is purchasing breakfast for them.

Friday~Each teacher will get their own scrapbook. I secretly gave each child in the school a letter and a small piece of scrapbook paper to decorate. I found small scrapbooks at the dollar tree. As kids turn in their pages I will put their books together and then deliver them. For the rest of the staff we are probably going to do flowers.

We do a dinner in the evening for the teachers and support staff. We have it at a location away from school so the teachers can have fun and laugh and relax. As far as donations this year, our school has not asked for ANY donations from anywhere until this event. Sadly, we have not found one place that will donate anything yet. We are on a very small budget and I am really frustrated because the bigger schools in town with thousands in the bank have just about everything donated to them. I just don't understand! Everything we are doing is either free (cards from students and parents) to extremely cheap. The food for the dinner is being sold to us at cost by a local restaurant and the food being prepared by a family memeber of mine. Hopefully next year will be better.

We have stopped buying gifts for all the staff. We do a catered lunch for them in our staff room. The teachers really seem to like it though.

Our school corp. purchases small gifts for the teachers for the week and then all of the PTO's from the district split the bill. Then each PTO supplies there teachers and staff a breakfast or luncheon. My school does a luncheon and has it catered.
