It takes 5
One to suggest it (Vice President)
One to discuss it (President)
One to take notes about it (Secretary)
One to pay for the bulb (Treasurer)
One to inform the parents/students that its being done (Public Relations Coordinator)

Thanks to everyone. Loved this.

And yes we have a winner. In a very scientific process, I selected:

kholmes
www.ptotoday.com/boards/13-free-for-all-...ulb?limit=6&start=30

Her answer:

It's a PTO event -- we'll pull it off regardless of how many show up to help -- just like we always do!!!

Maybe not a knee-slapper, but sounds just about perfect, no?

kholmes -- tshirt (and all the glory!) coming your way.....

You call Oprah and have them surprise the light bulb committee for doing such a good deed.

Principal — 1
Vice Principal — 1
Superintendent (we are on Oprah you know) — 1
The Lightbulb Committee (the entire board) — 7
Cheerleaders — 6
T-Shirt Committee (the entire school needs t-shirts with the Lightbuld logo on it) — 3

and of course...
Oprah (she's an honorary member) —1

so 20 :)

One, because if you want it done right, you've got to do it yourself. But a cheering section is always nice.

MY ANSWER IS it takes 1 PTO'er to actually buy the bulb using personal funds because it takes to long to wait till the next board meeting to get it approved and that same person will screw in the bulb.
however it also takes 1 custodian to bring the ladder, any parents on campus to sit, watch and basically do nothing, THE ENTIRE STUDENT BODY TO cheer her or him on, and teachers on campus to grip about the time it is taking away from their classroom and the PTO board to sell refreshments at the event

so potentially it could take up or more than to 1000 people depending on enrollment counts and staff...
lol...
