Japan

In the days to come many individuals and groups will respond charitably to the disaster in Japan. I believe this crisis presents an opportunity for American children to respond as well. I also believe this is an important lesson for children to learn. There are many simple ways that our children could fundraise for the Red Cross with requests for modest donations. Is this something that PTO groups would support and participate in?

My favorite fundraiser for young children is to have them draw cards (a piece to construction paper folded in half with a child's drawing on the front and blank inside). The children then sell their cards in groups of 6 or so to friends and family for modest prices.

I should say that my kids are grown up, but I have grandchildren who could do this...in fact, any child, regardless of age, can do this.

Thanks,

Bev Wolfram
