Yeah the $100 part is the part that requires us to get a license. But I did call the state gaming division and got some help from them. They said it is pretty slow right now, so if I get the application in soon it would only be around 2 weeks turnaround time.

Thanks for any tips and advice.

One more requirement with that to not get a license:

R 432.21502 Raffles not requiring a license.
Rule 502. A qualified organization is exempt from obtaining a license to conduct a raffle if all of the following elements are present:
(a) All the raffle tickets are sold at the single gathering of the qualified organization.
(b) The drawing is conducted at the same single gathering where the raffle tickets are sold and prizes awarded.
(c) The total retail value of all the prizes does not exceed $100.00 in a consecutive 24-hour period.

We just got our raffle license. It was about 3-4 weeks turn around time with the State. Just follow the instructions. I included a mock up of the ticket. We are doing a daily number drawing, based on the evening daily 3 draw.

I've been involved in a lot of organizations who have sold 50/50/ tickets only at an event. If you go to the MI Charitable Gaming site, I believe it says you don't need a license if it is only sold during the event, that day, on the premises where the event is held. If you want to sell outside the event, pre-sell, than you need a license. If you want to sell 50/50's during your crop, that shouldn't require a license. My daughtr was in softball and they sold 50/50 tickets at the games. They used double roll tickets. 3 for $1. Last night at daughter's choir concert they did a 50/50.

Go to the MI website or even call Lansing to make sure.

I forgot to mention - fill out the form and they will send a letter requesting one of the two if they need it. For the bank statments you need to take one month for 5 preceeding years.

As long as you either have 5 yrs. of bank statements or a 501c3 letter it's easy.

There's usually just the one form and you need to verify with one or the other the first time you apply. No red tape or hard problems.
