We have contacted the press and the ACLU and they both agree with us. The only place that said the school was within its rights was the department of education (go figure)! Word is getting around and parents are really angry. One of our school board members said he is going to launch an investigation. The principle is a control freak. This is just her shotty attempt to try to control all parents. She's going to control herslef right out of a job.

this just smells bad. You know sign it but write on the bottom YOUR conditions. You know, the right to eat with others, the right to converse in the hall....THE FIRST AMENDMENT!!!!!!!
There is no way in *%$@ that I would sign it, sounds a little like the principal is paranoid about volunteers having oppinions. I will agree with confidental stuff about students, but this seems way too much. Stand your ground, if no one signs it is she ready to take the heat that could come up from parents??a school with no volunteers...

I'm no Barry Shapiro, but even I know you're absolutely right. Is this person just misguided, or are they really bordering on being a bit "out there?" I wouldn't sign it either. Were there any repurcussions for not signing? If it ends up becoming an issue, I'd definitely ask the super and BOE if they had any knowledge of this. Probably not to politically diplomatic, but asking someone to sign away their first amendment rights isn't too diplomatic either. Perhaps a call to the ACLU as a last resort.
