Sample thank you notes / Psychology degree required for President?

I have a volunteer log for every event. When I welcome volunteers, I remind them to sign in and out so we can keep track of their time. I send thank yous according to this. I think it's silly to expect on person to keep track of all the volunteers it takes to make a successful event. I'm too busy running the event. I've heard people complain they didn't get a thank you, and I'm not afraid to ask them if they signed in like they were asked.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Ok, I'm new to this President sending out thank you's to volunteers. Any samples that have worked for you? I would sure like to thank the committee chairs for our Fall Walk A Thon in our School's Weekly Newsletter. But, I've already been cautioned that a previous President missed a few people and caused a near-meltdown at the next meeting.

Any ideas? Sample thank you notes?

Jeez, Doesn't this whole PTO parents "thing" seem overly difficult to you? Sometimes I feel like I need a degree in Psychology!

Thanks
