I am searching for a local PTO group

Many PTOs don't have much of an internet presence. If they do, there are generally links back and forth to the school's page.

If the organization has gone through some of the steps to finalize - primarily applying for non-profit status with the IRS (501(c)3) or sales tax exemption with the state, then you could also search those government databases. But many never to that. If yours had gone to that much effort, I would think you would have heard of them.

I agree - check with the schools.

Yeah, I asked a few times and was basically put off. But I can contact the principal again and let him know that I am willing to get something started for next year.

Thanks for replying. I think I depend a little too much on getting my info from the internet first, lol. I just like to have info before I delve into a project.

Hi Naomi -

Have you contacted the school office? Most PTOs and PTAs are school specific, so your best bet would be asking around at your school.

Hi, I am new here. I am wondering if there is a way to search online for local PTO group. I am not finding anything after searching the school and the local district. I have heard that there is PTO. But I am not sure if PTO is by the individual school or all schools combined in the district. At the beginning of this school year I asked about(PTA) because that is all that I was familiar with, just moving from Alaska. I was told I would be contacted once there was information available, but was never contacted.

I would like to find out if there is already a formed PTO group and if not I would love to get one going without stepping on too many toes, lol. Being new to the area and all.

Thanks for listening and any input would be great.
I am from the Washington Parish District in Franklinton LA. I have four children in Thomas Elementary School.
Take care,

Naomi
