2013 ULTIMATE DONATION LIST

I am so grateful for this thread. Thank you so much. I'm in Phoenix, Arizona. So far I have received donations from local companies and some from larger corporations. At our fall festival, we are allowing businesses to buy a booth ($200 donation) to solicit. They are giving away free items or coupons to attract more clients. Our local dentist is giving our tooth brushes and other dental supplies to encourage positive dental health. Our local businesses are really enjoying this opportunity. Another thing we do is set out several recycle bins for aluminum cans. After the event, we turn our cans in for cash. We try to encourage the entire neighborhood to come to our event rather than only inviting the school families. The key is to give them a reason to show up.

Christina,

I agree with McKenna. We do a raffle at our fall festival. Tickets are $1 each. You will have a better chance of getting 100 people to purchase a ticket for $1 each than 2 people willing to purchase a ticket for $50. $1 is much more justifiable spending on something that they're not guaranteed to win, IMO.

Christina,

Am I understanding correctly that you were considering selling raffle tickets for $50 for an item that is $104? I just wanted to make sure I understood that correctly. I know the point is to make the most money possible, but I can't imagine that would be very effective. How many auction items do you have? And were you thinking about selling raffle tickets specifically for each item? Usually, places will sell tickets that you can drop into all the baskets. Depending on your crowd and the items you have, the price for that varies, but I have never seen $50 tickets. Even at silent auction, I am not sure you would make that.

We are a very small PTO group at a small Elementary school. Is it hard to get a 501(c)(3) number? Most of the donation list says you have to have it before they will donate.. Any Suggestions????

Question...I don't think I am able to do a live auction. My event is literally in a room in a restaurant. I am going to make a raffle table and make it open to the whole restaurant, but I cannot do a live auction. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make price ranges for tickets? For instance, is $50 too much per ticket for a signed NY Jets poster (worth $104?) I am also putting up the Elite vacation thing, but I am overthinking everything!! My event is next month, and I need to maximize my "profit". Thank you so much!!
