Does anyone have any suggestions/success in getting a donation for a concert through Ticketmaster or contacting a specific musician (rock musician) who would donate a signed autograph or CD? Other ideas?

For the Tricky Tray for your sports team fundraising, you'll probably have more success with local businesses that will take an interest in the school athletic programs. Try Sports Authority and any other sports oriented stores. Try researching swimming sports equipment companies that might want to donate. Just email their customer service and see what they say.

Hello, I am trying to find donations for our upcoming Tricky Tray to be held in January. Purpose of the Tricky Tray is to raise money for our HS Varsity Swimming and Diving Team. We provide training equipment, athlete recognition, and we started a Scholarship Fund last year.

Can anyone help me with donation ideas, or places to send for donation requests. We are not a PTO, we do have the use of the School Tax exempt paperwork. Are there places that we could ask for donations without the 501C

Thank you for any help.

Yes, Alice....persistence is the best. Works most of the time, b/c someone will put your letter or call to the side....(will do it tomorrow type thing) and you need to keep calling to remind them!! I gather donations for the Relay for Life in Ohio........we have a silent auction every year & the upcoming year will be my 4th of getting donations!
Good luck to all!

Instead of doing a swap, which is not always ethical since organizations/businesses donate to specific causes for a purpose, try contacting businesses and organizations in a city you want to try to go to. We are in Virginia and I got businesses/organizations in SF to donate to our auction. I even got a hotel. You just have to be persistent. Some parents might be able to donate points or have connections for hotels if you ask. As a Catholic School, maybe make a connection with a larger catholic church in that city to see if they can help you arrange something

My school is located in Charleston, SC. We are a Catholic K-8 school. We are holding a gala in May 2014. We are able to secure hotels, carriage rides, plantation tours, etc. for our area pretty easily but these are not big bid items for our auction (the "tourist in your own town" does not bring in lots for us historically). I am interested in potentially doing a SWAP with another school in one of the following cities: New York City, San Francisco, Orlando. We are looking for accommodations, tourist attractions tickets, etc. in one of those cities. If you are interested in this please reply with your contact information.
