Not sure if this is something the kids can do, but thier parents certainly can. We are a K-3 elementary school with +/-1000 kids. Each year we do a catered teacher appreciation luncheon from 11-1. We have all of the teachers' classrooms covered by volunteers during this time so that everyone is included (even aides, office staff, lunchroom ladies, custodians, bus drivers, etc.). In the past we have done door prizes for everyone, but since we serve about 135 teachers this year we did it a little different. We had a musical quartet from the local college come and play for about 30 mins+/- (background music as they entered and ate), and then a comdian/inspirational speaker came in and entertained for another 30 mins.+/-. Both performances were volunteered, so our only expense was the food. We also gave favors to each of the teachers (coffe mugs filled with a pack of coffee and chocolate) that were also donated.

Other than that our teachers love duty free lunches and recess. Parents sit with classes durning lunch or recess and give the teachers and extra 20-30 mins to take care of paperwork, personal business, or to use the bathroom without rushing.

Hope this helps.

This year our board had already selected our Teacher Appreciation gifts (but not ordered them) when we received a sample of an imprintable school year planner from Amsterdam Printing that was so nice that we scrapped our original idea and ordered the planners along with imprinted pens.
We are a magnet school and it had been mentioned to us that the teachers didn't have many items with our magnet logo due to budget cuts, so now they'll be starting the new school year with nice new logo items.
They came out beautifully and everyone seems to really like them; we'll definitely use the company again.

We got a big lecture at citywide volunteer coordinator training that this is a huge no-no. Volunteers can not supervise students like this where I am.

Greetings,

Every year we do a huge luncheon catered, prizes and raffles. But, in November ever teacher is also awarded 65.00 - 75.00 Teacher Appreciation Grant from the PTO.

This grant does have one rule, must be spent on classroom...

Since so many of our teachers in our district use part of their own money for classroom supplies, we gave them all gift certificates to the local teacher store we know they all like to shop at.

We also had a breakfast of coffee, doughnuts, and juice for them. For lunch we did a catered lunch and had volunteers cover the classrooms, so the teachers could get a much needed break.
