“For the first time last March we celebrated ‘Go for the Greens’ with hand-cut green (and other color) vegetables that are given to the children during their lunch period. We found it easier to operate several large carts that circulate offering vegetables and dip to all of the children. By the children selecting their vegetables, and parents encouraging them to try others, we minimized being wasteful. Parents volunteered in washing, slicing, and bagging vegetables prior to the event. It is always amazing that children are delighted about simple programs like this.”
