“The PTSO at my school held a garage sale in October in conjunction with our Fall Festival. Tables were sold to parents and individuals ($10) who sold their garage sale items, keeping the profit. The school also sold surplus office furniture, used computers, etc. The student council sold homemade cookies and the senior class sold hot dogs, chips, drinks, etc. The event was advertised in the local paper and online. We’ve decided that we will do a garage sale in the fall and one in the spring. It was a hit! We made about $1,000, which will go toward a trip planned by the student council to Washington, D.C., in May.”
