“We were having a problem getting people involved and to either volunteer or to chair a committee, so I came up with the concept ‘A Taste of PTA.’ Each committee gave a two-minute blurb on what their committee did, their responsibilities and such; while the chair did the blurb, the cochair handed out a committee-specific snack. Every parent who came signed in, and their child received a dress-down day. It was very successful, we had over a 90 percent attendance rate, and it increased our parent involvement.”
