North Elementary in Poland, Ohio, gave its father-son event a twist with a Survivor theme borrowed from the hit reality TV show. Fathers and sons competed in various athletic events. They also had a dinner followed by the more amusing events of the day. In one test, fathers and sons were challenged to make each other laugh without speaking. There was also a “gross-out food station” where they had to guess such things as what food was used for “eyeballs” (peeled grapes) and “hearts” (peeled tomatoes). Father-and-son teams also received matching bandanas and had their photos taken in front of a large tiki statue.
