It's possible, but it's not likely to be the best situation for the school. Unless the two groups find completely different roles to fill, you'll be competing for volunteers, fundraising dollars, places on the school calendar for your events, time from teachers and administration, etc. Instead of bringing the school community together, you'll be creating a natural rift. If you want to start a new group, you're better off shutting the other one down.
