playground games

1 Year, 4 Months ago

We are having our playground redone due to remodeling of the school. Does anyone have any ideas for games to go on the playground? We will put in a basketball hoop but need all age games for the blacktop.

Hopscotch, 4 square, tic-tac-toe, plenty of space for jump rope, buckets of sidewalk chalk and area to draw. Adjustable basketball hoops are nice too, so you can bring them down for the little ones to play too.

Last night, doing a web search for "thermoplastic coatings" I found a lot of interesting items for playground hard-surface areas. Most of the companies were overseas, but looking through their catalogs might give you some good ideas.... games, maps, school mascots, compass points, etc.

This is a link to one of the catalogs ... very bright and colorful designs, and I'm sure there are local companies doing this. (Not sure about costs.)

Hope this helps....

:)Thanks for the info. We are putting in two basketball hoops with one shorter than the other for the smaller kids. I looked online for some of the games you suggested and found this site that has stencils for four square and hopscotch as well as the US map.
If you would like to check it out here is the site.

Playground Stencils - Stencilease.com

The coatings site was great but didn't have any pricing. Will research this options further with someone in the US.
Thanks for the input.

If you didn't already order your stencils yet you should also check out
US map stencil for playground

We purchased the funtastic 4 pack and these are the easiest one piece (thus the name) do it yourself (DIY) stencils anywhere on the market. Best part is they are not only reusable but can also be used indoors (multi-uses). PLUS you can share them with other local schools and even share the costs!

Checkout the website for more info and they do make custom orders.
We were on of the first to order the basketball key/foul shot which you should ask about if interested.

Sorry, I don't get it? When I typed in the link in my last reply I wrote: "EZ1 stencils" which is the name of the products. When I read the post it said US map stencil which is only one of the many stencils they sell.

Anyway- they offer Hopscotch, 4 Square, Computer Keyboard and Basketball Key (foul shot area) along with other maps.

You should e-mail from site and ask about any clearance items or further reduced offers.

Hope this helps!
