Materials:

  • Paper cut into strips
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • A few extra pairs of hands

 Heart Shaped Paper Chain Supplies

How To Assemble:

Fold each strip in half. (This gives you the pointy part at the bottom of the heart.)

Join the two ends in the centre and pinch while you staple the ends together.

Heart Shaped Paper

Thread your next strip through the heart you just made and repeat.

At the end of the craftivity hang the paper chains around the room. Also fun to join them all together for one big group chain.

Note: Holding the ends together and stapling can be a little tricky for young hands still building fine motor skills. It’s a good idea to have a few older kids or volunteer parents at each station to help.

Variations:

Have the kids follow a pattern (great learning!)

Use crafting scissors with a rippled edge to get a more decorative design

Use wrapping paper instead of construction paper. Keep in mind that the thinner the paper the easier it rips, construction paper is best for kindergarten kids.
