New Resources for Room Parents

We know lots of PTO volunteers do double duty as room parents, so we’re excited to share all the new resources that have been created by our sister site, HomeroomMom.com.

Whether you are a brand-new room parent or a veteran looking for new ideas, HomeroomMom.com has you covered.

Room Parent Starter Kit. Think of this as one-stop shopping (although everything is free) for a new room parent. It contains basic information on all the key jobs room parents have along with links to clip art, flyers, thank-you notes, and more.

50 Must-Have Ideas for Room Parents. This list of 50 room mom tips is for anyone who will be working in classrooms this year. It covers everything from using glitter (actually, try not to!) to options for healthy snacks. There are also good tips on talking to the teacher, dealing with difficult parents, and helping other room parents.

40 Ultimate Room Mom Hacks. This collection of hacks for class parents is for anyone who wants to save time, so I guess we mean it’s for everyone. Find out how everyday household items, like muffin tins and toilet paper rolls, will come in handy for you.

Money Talk. This post offers tips on how and when to collect money from parents and includes links to donation request letter templates you can customize and use for your classroom.

10 Things No One Tells You About Being a Room Mom. Nothing horrifying here, but good inside info on the room parent job. For instance, if you are a control freak, you’ll either have to learn to let go because a group of 20 young children will never all do the Halloween craft exactly the way you think it should be done.

The 5 Stages of Being a Room Mom. If, as a room mom, you experience elation and despair in the course of the year (along with a few other feelings!), then you are completely normal.
