The clique accusation or perception has to be the most frustrating dilemma for PTO and PTA leaders. We desperately want help, but folks think we are closed to outsiders. Bridging this gap (or correcting this misunderstanding) is a key to growing involvement at your school. This is one clear case where perception really matters.

But I hate to tell you—nearly all of the responsibility for fixing the clique problem falls on you. (Shocking, right?)

The good news is, the solutions aren’t that difficult. Most involve just being more aware of common habits that can be misconstrued. It’s why I love this recent article called 6 Clique Fixes. I guarantee you’ll find practical tips that are easy to apply to your group. (Examples: avoid speaking in acronyms at meetings. Follow up. Make a point to introduce yourself.
