Making sure that your parent group is insured with the right coverage should always be a top priority when you volunteer on the board of your school PTO or PTA. But choosing parent group insurance isn’t quite the same as auto, home, or life insurance, and leaders often feel confused about the types of coverage they need to protect their group.
We checked in with PTO President Allie Jusino from Temple Hill Academy in New Windsor, New York, who recently worked one-on-one with our leader support team to purchase an insurance package for her group. She broke down her process for us, including why she chose PTO Today insurance over other carriers and what the purchasing experience was like.
Where did you first hear about PTO Today Insurance?
Allie Jusino: I first heard about PTO Today Insurance on the PTO Today [website] when I was reading an article about something else altogether. Before then, my group hadn’t considered getting a policy through PTO Today.
Did you research/vet other insurance carriers?
AJ: Yes, I checked out other insurance carriers but decided that a package from PTO Today was best for our PTO.

AJ: What was important to me when choosing an insurance package was to ensure our school and committee members were covered in the case of an emergency.

Did you purchase your policy through the PTO Today website or did you speak with a member of Leader Support?

If you used Leader Support, can you tell us a bit more about your experience?
AJ: I was in a bind and needed to have the certificate of insurance before our event was to take place that same evening at 6 pm, otherwise I would have had to cancel my event. I called PTO Today and spoke with Julie Drummond, who was extremely helpful and was able to have our PTO signed up the same day and supply me with the certificate of insurance. We didn’t have to cancel our event!
