Last year the spirit day committee promoted a monthly walking group during recess for all grades. To add some excitement to our activities, we promoted certain months to include the turkey trot (November), penguin plunge (December), heart healthy (February), and shamrock shuffle (March). For participating in the walks, children were given toe tokens that corresponded with the monthly themes or symbols. You could see the tokens on the children’s shoelaces or from their zipper on their backpacks.
