So, when it came time to come up with a healthy, prepackaged treat for my daughter's Kindergarten Thanksgiving class party, I immediately went to work making banana-sized pilgrim hats out of construction paper. Gotta admit, my daughter went bananas for these. For those of you who are up for a bit more of a challenge, you can also make pilgrim hats using recycled Keurig coffee cups like these

You'll need:

  • Bananas
  • Googly eyes
  • Black, white and yellow construction paper
  • Glue dots, or glue
  • Tape
  • Black permanent marker

Affix two googly eyes to the front of the banana.

Trim a strip of black paper large enough to fit around the top of the banana's "head" and affix it using tape. Using black paper, cut out the shape of a brimmed top hat. Cut a small strip of white paper and glue it across the mid-section of the hat. Using the yellow paper, cut out a small square and glue it to the center of the white band (alternatively, instead of yellow paper, you could use gold glitter glue. Glue the hat to the black band that is tape to the banana.

Draw a smiley face (or a more serious, "I've been sailing across the ocean for 66 days now" type of grimace).
