Question: Changing from a PTA to a PTO

Can we have the board members join the PTA while the parents join the PTO? I ask because we have the EIN number, but have not completed all the necessary steps to complete the formal PTO.

Hi janet -- I'm a little bit confused by your question. With an EIN, your new organization is basically alive. It's OK if it takes you some more time to get the remaining steps (perhaps bylaws or filing for a 501c3?) done. What is your goal/worry in having the board members join the PTA?
