Being compared to ex-president

I am getting ready to transition into the presidency of our PTO. The President currently is a good friend of mine and she is a great Pres., but she is no longer interested in running. I accepted the nomination to at least carry on in her footsteps, and with her ideas she has started. I am already getting the feeling that I am going to be compared to her. Any suggestions?

You have to make your own mark. Follow the things thru that have begun but always add your own touch or special thought. Go that extra mile and add something personel. Everyone enjoys that added something. This does not take away from the past but adds to your administration. You will be known for the personal attention that you gave.

To JB- I'm in a similar situation. I'll be president next year succeeding someone who's done an excellent job. My demeanor is very different from her & I was concerned at first about trying to fill her shoes. Instead, I've realized that I am very different from her & need to approach the position in my way. I plan to emulate her in many ways, but also not be afraid to use my own approach to things. (That's my current plan anyway!)
Best wishes for a successful presidency!
