We are a small organization and try to put on the best events we can, but when there are only 6 to 8 people who are willing to put time and effort in to the function sometimes things do not go so smoothly. This is where our principal is having problems. She has decided that we are just not organized enough and to "HELP" us out, she has decided to have her sec. put in to our treas. spot, and said she wouldn't mind if our treas. was still on the account as co-treas. Then she decided also that since our teacher reps. always took notes at the meetings and she would e-mail them to the teachers, then they would be our sec. We are not sure what we can do, we can not find our bylaws, we are not sure we can do anything about her taking control of our money because we use and are under their tax id no. if that gives them that right and we just have to live with this now. If that is the case we are thinking of handing her the whole show and say to her there ya go, you want control you have it. We know nothing will be done right by the kids though. She has already taken away field trips for the kids this year. So that is why we are hesitant. But we can not deal with her micro management and if she has no data on paper she can not function. She is one where there is a form for everything. She has not been to our PTO meetings since last March, she did come to our one in Oct. though, just to let us know she wanted to meet with us alone. We are frustrated and since we are not sure where we stand with our rights, we do not know what to do. Thanks for listening to be ramble on, I could talk forever about things she has done, the teachers would love to see her gone also.Any advice?? We need all the help we can get!!THanks

My understanding is that if you are using the school tax id, the school must have "input" into how the funds are managed. We get around that by having two signatures on checks and spelling out how expenditures are approved in our bylaws. You really must find your bylaws, without them you have nothing to govern you. We have had similar problems with our new principal and we gave her a copy of the bylaws to help her "understand" how we operate.
