Our school does a teacher lunch every month. It's A potluck and each month a different grade sponsers it. The room parent makes phone calls and asks parents what they can bring depending on the theme. It's always a huge success.

Meals during our conferences has been a long tradition at our school for our Staff Appreciation Committee. The teachers really appreciate having food available. We set out a buffet in the Media Center and make sure there's food they can pick up and take back to your classroom if they chose.

I agree with dlf - what a great way to boost the staff's morale and let them know how much you appreciate them! Sure, they're grown ups and would probably manage to get themselves fed. But wouldn't it be great to have one less thing to worry about on an already hectic day?

We've done soup dinners where several volunteers brought in crock pots full of yummy soups and stews. The committee's budget supplied breads and rolls, soft drinks and all of the paper goods. However, these items could be donated as well.

We've also done a pizza dinner. Local pizza places such as Dominos and Little Caesars (and I'm sure plenty of others) have $5 large pizzas. Throw in some 2 liter sodas and bread sticks and you have a whole meal!

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."

Of course--Our teacher's LOVE it when they get treated to lunch or dinner. We do a souper lunch for our paras and secretaries as well!!!! I think raising the morale of the teachers, keeps the morale high for everyone and that means our children. So you keep going for it. We've done pot lunches, picnic chicken, ice cream sundaes, soups, deli spreads. Can be donated (if allowed in your district) or purchased. We've already held a Bus Driver's Breakfast (during Bus Safety Month) and a cafeteria luncheon for our cafeteria workers for cafeteria month, oh plus a chicken picnic before school started for the teachers and staff in august. So I'd say drive on!!!

We are thinking of providing food for teachers on Conference Day(Breakfast), Open House(dinner) for teachers when they are at school all day and often to not have time to go out and pick up a meal.
I have met some negativity in regards to, "f they are going to be there all day, don't they know to pack something?" responses.
I am only trying to be pro-active on a tip a few parents suggested that our PTO try.
I do not see the harm in trying this via room-parent or staff appreciation. Your thoughts/comments?
